How do you cook brussel sprouts so they are not bitter || BRUSSEL SPROUTS 3 DELICIOUS WAYS
I never grew up eating Brussel sprouts, But once I started eating them, I enjoyed them in all forms, including roasted, creamy, pan-seared, or raw in salads.
I absolutely love them now,
In this video, I share three of my favorite ways of eating Brussel sprouts, pan-seared / sauté, creamy or raw.
I hope this video is useful. Thank you for watching
I didn't mention verbally how to balance the bitterness of Brussels sprouts in the video so here are a various ingredients that complement their flavor.
1. Sweet Ingredients: Adding sweetness can help counterbalance the bitterness of Brussels sprouts. Consider incorporating ingredients like honey, maple syrup, balsamic glaze, or brown sugar. You can drizzle these sweeteners over roasted Brussels sprouts or use them in glazes or dressings.
2. Acidic Ingredients: Acidic ingredients can brighten the flavors and cut through the bitterness. Consider using lemon juice, vinegar (such as balsamic, apple cider, or red wine vinegar), or citrus zest. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over sautéed or roasted Brussels sprouts, or use vinegar to make a tangy dressing.
3. Creamy Sauces or Cheese: Creamy sauces or melted cheese can add richness and help balance the bitterness. Consider drizzling the sprouts with a creamy sauce like a lemon garlic aioli or a tangy mustard sauce. Alternatively, you can top them with grated Parmesan cheese, crumbled feta, or creamy goat cheese.
4. Nuts and Seeds: Toasted nuts or seeds can provide a satisfying crunch and add depth of flavor to Brussels sprouts. Try adding toasted almonds, pecans, walnuts, or pumpkin seeds to roasted or sautéed sprouts.
5. Bacon or Pancetta: The saltiness and smokiness of bacon or pancetta can help offset the bitterness. Cook diced bacon or pancetta until crispy, then sprinkle it over the cooked Brussels sprouts for added flavor and texture.
6. Fruits: Pairing Brussels sprouts with fruits can add a touch of sweetness and contrast. Consider adding dried cranberries, pomegranate seeds, or sliced apples to roasted Brussels sprouts for a delightful flavor combination.
Experimenting with different flavor profiles can help you find the perfect pairings to enhance the taste of Brussels sprouts and reduce their bitterness
