Hazelnut Millionaire’s Shortbread is a delicious British cookie made up of three distinctive components: a crisp, tender, and buttery shortbread layer; a chewy, gooey, and nutty caramel (toffee) layer; and a rich, shimmering, melt-in-your-mouth dark chocolate layer.
No one really knows how this world-famous confection got its name, but we believe it is presumably due to its rich, unbridled decadence! As if the cookie’s luxurious, indulgent qualities were not enough, we took them a step further by incorporating an insane amount of crunchy, toasted hazelnuts, into the caramel (toffee) layer! This will undoubtedly give you an experience that is, according to one of our tasters, akin to an out of body experience!
In developing our signature formula, we tested a multitude of recipes, mostly from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, considered to be the birthplace of Millionaire’s Shortbread. Although we enjoyed each and everyone of them, they all lacked a certain “over the top” quality that we were looking for. So, we tweaked the classic version and incorporated techniques and ingredients that would make our version unique and definitive, yet retained the authenticity of the original recipe. The result… a cookie worth a King’s (or Queen’s) ransom!
This class was designed to equip the learner with the necessary knowledge and skill on how to make authentic Hazelnut Millionaire’s Shortbread. In this class, students will learn the fundamental techniques on how to prepare the three components of the recipe; bake, cool, layer and cut the cookie slab correctly. Also, we will show you a quick way to temper small amounts of chocolate, so that you can achieve a professional look on your finished product.
