Classic Angel Food Cake!! How to Make Angelfood Cake Recipe
Learn how to make the most tender, softest, lightest and airiest angel food cake from scratch!! This is super easy to make so don't be intimidated by it. You'll never use a box mix again once you give this a try!
What you'll need:
1 cup (110 g) cake flour
1 1/4 cups (250 g) white granulated sugar, divided
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups (355ml) egg whites (about 10 eggs)
1 tsp cream of tartar (or tartaric acid)
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
In a medium bowl, sift together flour, 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of a stand mixer or a large bowl using an electric hand mixer, start beating egg whites. When frothy and approximately doubled in size, add in cream of tartar and lemon juice. Bet until soft peaks form. Gradually add in remaining 3/4 cup (150g) of sugar while beating on medium-high. When stiff peaks form, fold in vanilla extract. When mixed well, gently fold in sifted dry ingredients. When no more streaks of flour remain, transfer batter to an ungreased angel food cake or tube pan. Even the top and bake in a preheated 350*F (175*C) for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick or skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean.
Remove from oven and turn upside down and cool completely. When cool, run a knife around the edges of the pan and turn cake out onto a cake plate. Use a serrated knife to cut and serve. Enjoy!!

Angel Food Cake - Everyday Food with Sarah Carey
For this recipe, you'll whisk egg whites and cream of tartar into soft peaks, before adding sugar and vanilla to the same bowl. Next, fold cake flour and salt into the egg mixture and then bake the batter in a removable-bottom cake pan (don't forget to smooth out the top, first!). This treat is as airy as it is healthy -- and I know you'll love it as much as I do!
Sarah's Tip of the Day: Are you looking for a light and fluffy dessert that doesn't skimp on taste? You've come to the right place, because this angel food cake is a fantastic treat (that won't impact your waistline).

Ingredients
3 cups plus more for dusting cake pans self rising flour
3 sticks at room temperature, divided butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon butternut extract
1 cup chopped, plus 1/2 cup unchopped pecans
4 cups confectioner's sugar
1 (8 oz) package at room temperature cream cheese
Preperation
For the cake:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Adjust the racks to the middle of the oven. Spray three 9-inch cake pans with nonstick spray and dust lightly with flour.
2. Using a stand mixer, cream 2 sticks of butter until fluffy. Add the granulated sugar and continue to cream well for 6 to 8 minutes.
3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the flour and milk alternately to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the flour. Add 3 tablespoons extract and continue to beat until just mixed. Then fold in 1 cup chopped pecans. Divide the batter equally among the prepared pans. Level the batter in each pan by holding pan 3 or 4 inches above the counter and dropping it flat onto the counter.
4. Bake until golden brown, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool the cakes completely before frosting.
For the frosting:
1. Add the confectioners’ sugar to a bowl and whisk to make sure there are no lumps. Set aside.
2. In a large bowl, blend together the cream cheese and 1 stick butter with an electric hand mixer.
3. Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 teaspoon extract.
4. Stir in 1/2 cup pecans (or reserve them to sprinkle over the frosted cake). Fill and frost the cake when the layers are completely cool.
