1/4 c Peanut butter
3 tb Milk; to 4 tablespoons
Recipe by: Midwest Living, February 1995 Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer for 30 seconds. Add the sugars; beat until thoroughly combined. Add the egg, 1/3 cup peanut butter, baking soda, vanilla extract and salt. Beat until thoroughly combined. Stir in the flour and oats. Spread in the prepared pan. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the edges are light brown. Sprinkle with the chocolate pieces and let stand for 5 minutes to soften. Meanwhile, stir together the powdered sugar, 1/4 cup peanut butter and enough of the milk, a tablespoon at a time, to drizzle. Spread the chocolate evenly over the top and then drizzle with the peanut butter mixture. Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars. Penny Halsey -----

FOR THE BARS
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 6 ounces (3/4 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
FOR THE GLAZE
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, or by hand, cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy, 4 minutes.
Scrape the bowl and add the egg, peanut butter, baking soda, salt, and vanilla. Mix to incorporate, 2 minutes.
Add flour and rolled oats. Mix until no streaks of flour remain, 1 minute.
Spray a 9x13 baking pan with nonstick spray and spread batter evenly to the corners and sides.
Bake until the edges are set and the center soft, 18-23 minutes.
While the bars are baking, prepare the peanut butter glaze. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, peanut butter, and cream. Whisk until smooth and the mixture is thickened, but runny, making ribbons on itself. Set aside until ready to use.
When the bars are finished baking, remove from the oven and sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Let the chocolate chips melt for 5 minutes then spread evenly over the bars.
Drizzle the prepared peanut butter glaze over the chocolate and spread with an offset spatula slightly mixing the glaze and chocolate. Allow the chocolate and glaze to set before cutting, 2 hours.
Cut into finger sized bars and enjoy!
