How To make Oatmeal Peanut Drops For The Boys
3/4 c Raisins; seedless
1/4 c Shortening
1 c Sugar
1/2 c Peanut butter
2 Eggs; beaten
1/4 c Milk
1 1/2 c Flour; sifted
1/4 ts Salt
1/2 ts Baking soda
1 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Vanilla
3/4 c Rolled oats; quick cooking
Pour boiling water over raisins, let stand for 5 minutes, drain on absorbent towel or paper. Cream shortening, add sugar, and cream fluffy. Add peanut butter, mix well. Add eggs and milk. Mix and sift flour,salt, and baking soda and cinnamon, add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla, raisins and oats. Drop by teaspoonful about 2 inchs apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for 15 minutes. Source: Pack a Treat for the boys Afloat or Ashore.1943 paper -----
