An easy no-bake recipe that makes a nice dessert or snack.
Blueberry oat squares mentioned in video:
Recipe from Taste of Home Magazine 3/4 cup 130 g butter or margarine 1 1/4 cups (158g) all purpose flour 1 1/4 cups (118g) quick cooking oats 3/4 cups (157g) brown sugar 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) baking soda 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) salt 24 caramels 1/4 cup (60ml) milk 1 cup (6oz or 174g) chocolate chips 1/2 cup (54g) nuts (optional)
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat butter on high for 30-45 seconds or until softened. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt (omit if using salted butter). Stir flour mixture into butter until blended. Set a third of the mixture aside for topping and press the remaining mixture into a 8inch square baking dish (microwave safe). Cook uncovered until crust is raised and set (crust may be uneven) About 2 minutes. Rotate a half turn after each minute if your microwave does not have a turntable. In another bowl heat the caramels and milk on high for 3-4 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring every minute. Sprinkle chips and half the nuts (if desired) over crust. Pour caramel over all and top with reserved topping mixture. Microwave on high for 3-4 minutes until the caramel is bubbly rotating a quarter turn every minute if your microwave has no turn table. Cool before cutting.
