How To make Mom's White Pound Cake
3 3/4 cups cake flour
sifted
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 3/4 cups butter :
(NO substitutes)
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups egg whites -- unbeaten (10-12 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and sift together three times. Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg whites, 1/4 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flavoring and beat vigorously. Turn into two loaf pans 9x5x3 inches, which have been greased, lined with heavy paper and again greased. Bake in slow over (275 degrees F) 40 minutes; then increase heat lightly (325 degrees F) and bake 40 minutes. Source: The Latest Cake Secrets, General Foods Corporation, New York, 1934, pp. 52-53.

How to Make Ma's Cake: My Mom's Pound Cake
Learn how to make my mom's pound #cake. This #recipe is easy, quick, and straightforward, yet it creates deliciously dense, moist, and buttery pound cake! The addition of lemon zest and lemon juice gives the cake a brightness and a nice hint of citrus! You'll also learn about the rule my mom has when making the batter that you better not break!
While this recipe isn't a traditional #Dutch dish, you'll often get this served with coffee in The Netherlands. Iets lekkers bij de koffie is something you'll hear my mom say when she offers you a cup of coffee. It means Do you want something tasty with the coffee. If you say yes, you'll either get her boterkoek or this delicious pound cake! In the summer she will often serve it with fresh berries and whipped cream on it!
Note
If you cannot find self-rising cake flour, you can make it yourself. For every cup of self-rising flour that your recipe calls for, measure out one cup of flour and add ¼ teaspoon salt and 1¼ teaspoons baking powder. In grams: 100 grams of self-rising flour can be subbed with 100 grams of flour, plus 5.5 grams baking powder and 1.13 grams salt.

I’m sharing how to make incredibly moist lemon pound cake from scratch. The cake is perfectly citrusy, brushed with lemon syrup, and finished with lemon icing. A must-try for the upcoming warmer season!????
???? The ingredients to make lemon pound cake
[Pound Cake] for a 8” by 4” (or 1.5 QT) loaf pan
• Granulated sugar 8.5 oz | 240 g (1 1/5 US cups)
• Salt 3/4 tsp
• Lemon zest from 2 lemons
• Unsalted butter (softened) 8 oz | 226 g (2 US sticks)
• Eggs 7 oz | 200 g (4 medium eggs)
• All-purpose flour 8.5 oz | 240 g (2 US cups)
• Baking powder 1 & 1/2 tsp
• Sour cream 6 oz | 170 g (3/4 US cup)
• Honey 1 oz | 30 g (1.5 Tbsp)
• Vanilla extract 1/2 tsp
• Lemon juice 1 oz | 30 g (2 Tbsp)
???? Bake at 325 F | 163 C for about 60 - 75 minutes.
* Adjust the time & temperature accordingly.
[Lemon Syrup]
• Water 3 oz | 85 g (1/3 US cup)
• Lemon juice 1 oz | 30 g (2 Tbsp)
• Granulated sugar 2 oz | 56 g (1/4 US cup)
[Lemon Icing]
• Powdered sugar 5 oz | 142 g (1 1/6 US cups)
• Lemon juice 1 Tbsp + 2 tsp
???? Bake at 325 F | 163 C for 1 minute to let the icing dry and gives it a nice crispiness.
