Vegan Chocolate Cake - No Butter, No Egg Cake Recipe - My Recipe Book By Tarika Singh
Learn how to make Vegan Chocolate Cake at home that's absolutely butter free and egg free and yet tastes divine.
Food blogger Tarika Singh brings you a vegan chocolate cake recipe that's extremely simple and easy to put together. This cake isn't too sweet on its own, so the dark chocolate glaze over it, sweetened with icing sugar hits just the right sweet notes.
Ingredients:
For the cake:
1 cup warm water (lukewarm, not boiling)
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (extra for dusting pan)
1 1/2 cups (180 grams) all-purpose flour
1 cup caster sugar (160 grams)
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup canola oil (or any other neutral-flavored oil, plus extra for greasing pan)
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
2 tsp. white vinegar
For the glaze:
50 grams dark chocolate chopped
1/3 cup icing sugar, sifted
2 Tablespoons water
Method:
To make the cake:
- Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
- Use an 8-inch, removable bottom pan and line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper.
- Lightly brush the pan and parchment paper with oil & dust with cocoa powder.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder & lukewarm water, making sure that there are no lumps left and set aside.
- In a large pan, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda & salt.
- Make a well in the center of these dry ingredients and add the cocoa-water mixture, oil & vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth. Add the vinegar & whisk.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pan & bake for about 30 to 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Once baked, place the pan on a wire rack to cool for 20 minutes.
- Run a knife around the sides of the pan before loosening the sides of the pan.
- Open up the cake pan and gently place the cake on a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the chocolate glaze:
- Melt the chocolate either in a double boiler or in the microwave. - Allow it to cool slightly and then whisk in the water & sifted icing sugar.
- Once this mixture takes on a spreadable consistency, pour it over the center of the cooled cake.
- Use an offset spatula to spread the glaze evenly over the top and sides of the cake.

????????????????????????????????????

• 1½ cups unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 tablespoon baking soda
• 1½ teaspoons baking powder
• 1½ teaspoons salt
• 4 large eggs
• 1½ cups buttermilk
• 1½ cups warm water
• ½ cup vegetable oil
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
✅Instructions
1️⃣ 00:00:17 - Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter three 9-inch cake rounds. Dust with flour and tap out the excess.
2️⃣ 00:01:19 - Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a stand mixer using a low speed until combined.
3️⃣ 00:01:44 - Add eggs, buttermilk, warm water, oil, and vanilla. Beat on a medium speed until smooth. This should take just a couple of minutes.
4️⃣ 00:02:31 - Divide batter among the three pans. I found that it took just over 3 cups of the batter to divide it evenly.
5️⃣ 00:02:47 - Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake meets the toothpick test (stick a toothpick in and it comes out clean).
6️⃣ 00:03:06 - Cool on wire racks for 15 minutes and then turn out the cakes onto the racks and allow to cool completely.
7️⃣ Frost with your favorite frosting and enjoy!
Notes
The better quality cocoa powder you use the better the cake will taste.
00:03:30 - CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE BUTTERCREAM FROSTING
✅Ingredients
• 1½ cups butter, softened
• 8 oz cream cheese, softened
• 1½ cups unsweetened cocoa powder
• 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 7-8 cups powdered sugar
• about ¼ cup milk (as needed)
✅Instructions
1️⃣ 00:03:38 - In a large bowl, beat together butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer for best results
2️⃣ 00:03:57 - Add in cocoa powder and vanilla extract. Beat until combined.
3️⃣ 00:04:23 - Beat in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time. Add milk as necessary to make a spreadable consistency. The frosting should be very thick and will thicken even more if refrigerated.
Notes
In the photos above, an extra dark cocoa powder was used in the frosting. Extra dark cocoa will result in a much darker, almost black frosting.

Stacey aka: Dreamer72fem here on Youtube is the only person I have ever heard mention this cake besides someone from my family. So when I heard her mention it in a video .. I got very excited and asked my Mother to film her making it when my Aunts came to visit, as it was Their Mom's cake & they were coming to visit in a week or so. So They recored it for me when they were here visiting. =) Thanks =) & I Wanted to Share it with all of you & STACEY =) & Stacey I would Love to try yours. =)
Recipe as Follows:
Grease & flour 8 pan
Preheat oven to 350*
Please Note: No Eggs or Oil is Needed
Add all the dry ingredients together in a bowl and gently stir together. Can sift if choose.
Dry Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose white flour
1 cup white granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/3 teaspoon baking powder
3-5 tablespoons dry baking coco mix ( like Hershey's Coco )
Mix together
Add in :
1 cup MIRACLE WHIP
to make it my Mom's or reg Mayonnaise if choose that.
BUT the Miracle Whip adds a Real Yummy Tang to it ..
PLUS It ISN'T My Mom's if you don't use Miracle Whip haha =)
1 cup COLD water
GENTLY STIR TOGETHER JUST UNTIL THOROUGHLY MIXED .. DO NOT USE ELECTRIC MIXER OR OVER MIX
It is a very Stiff, Thick Batter, it looks like it may be rising and like you need to add more water .. DO NOT ADD MORE WATER =) & DO NOT OVER MIX
Pour into cake pan & Bake for 35 min
& Enjoy
I hope you all give it a try. I know it sounds a bit odd but it add moistness because of the oil and eggs in the Miracle Whip & adds a yummy flavor.
