How To make Maharagwe (Spiced Beans In Coconut Milk)
1 ea Onion, chopped
1 c Black-eyed peas, cooked
3 ea Tomatoes, chopped
1 1/2 ts Turmeric
1 ts Chili powder
1 tb Cilantro, chopped
1 1/2 c Coconut milk
Oil Salt Heat the oil in a large, deep pot. Cook the onion gently until it is golden & soft. Partially mash the cooked peas with a fork & then add ot the cooking onion. Add the tomatoes & mix well. Put in the turmeric & chili powder, seasoning & half the cilantro. After that, pour in the coconut milk, stirring to blend all the ingredients. Cover the pot & leave to simmer for 10 minutes before garnishing with the remaining cilantro. Serve over rice. **Use parsley in place of cilantro. Troth Wells, "The World in Your Kitchen"

INGREDIENTS:
* 3 cups kidney Beans
* 2 cups coconut milk
* 3 tbsp cold pressed coconut oil
* Salt
* 1/2 tsp Curry
* 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
* 1 cup chopped tomatoes
* 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
* optional pinch pepper flakes
* 1 & half cups chopped Shallot onions
* 1 tbsp minced garlic
* 1 optional whole Thai chili
* 2 whole garlic for cooking beans
* 4 sprigs scallion/spring onions bundled
* 1 tbsp chopped ginger
* water 1 liter for cooking beans, and extra as needed.
Directions
soak the beans for 1 hour
wash the beans add water to cover the beans
add garlic , chopped onions, spring onions and Thai Chilli to the pot and boil the beans for 45 minutes or until Mashable.
How to serve the beans
1. rice and beans dish bowl with eith avocado slices and a chunky tomato, onion, colantro, chili, lime juice salsa and fried onions

Kidney Beans in Coconut Milk | Maharage Ya Nazi #kidneybeans #coconutmilk #youtube
Ingredients:
5 tins of kidney beans (400g / tin)
200ml of coconut milk
250g of passata
3 tablespoons of oil
3 onions finely chopped
2 crushed green chillies (optional)
1 tablespoon of cumin seeds (jeera)
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
2 tablespoons of coriander cumin (dhana jeera) powder
Salt to taste
Water (quantity in the method)
Method:
Add some oil to a deep cooking pan on medium heat.
Next add the cumin seeds, onions and green chillies to the pan.
Cook the onions until they are translucent. Now add the passata and the spices – salt to taste, turmeric, dhana jeera powder and red chilli powder.
A note on using the red chilli powder, if the green chillies are already very hot then you may wish to skip the red chilli powder or use Kashmiri red chilli powder which is milder.
Continue to cook on medium heat until you start to see oil appearing around the mixture, then add half a cup of boiling water and mix well.
Leave to cook under medium heat for a further 2-3 minutes before adding the kidney beans and mix well.
Add the coconut milk and mix well before finally adding 200ml of water (same amount as the coconut milk) and leaving it to cook for 10 mins on low flame.
Best served with Chapatis, Rice or Ugali.
