Dan Bakes Stuff Ep. 6: Libby's New Fashioned Pumpkin Pie with Condensed Milk!
Please like and subscribe if you enjoy my videos and feel free to leave comments with any questions.
For this video, I make a pumpkin pie from scratch using the Libby's New Fashioned Pumpkin Pie recipe, which substitutes condensed milk for sugar and uses less evaporated milk. Not to be dismayed, the condensed milk still has plenty of sugar in it but I presume less than the 3/4 cup of sugar that the regular Libby's recipe calls for. I found that with the condensed milk and the less evaporated milk, the pie has a thicker consistency and less sweet taste. I actually might prefer this recipe over the famous pumpkin pie recipe. However, I think that I actually prefer the Meijer pumpkin pie recipe over the Libby's because the Meijer recipe has a bit more flavor.

Libby's Brand Pumpkin Pies - Back of the Pack (episode 9)
Recipes for Pumpkin Pie from the Libby's Pure Pumpkin can:
#libbys #pumpkinpie #thanksgiving #pie
Pie 1: Famous Pumpkin Pie:
Combine dry ingredients: ½ tsp salt, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, ½ tsp ground ginger, 1/4 tsp ground cloves and ¾ cup of sugar. Mix all that in a little bowl.
Beat 2 eggs in a big bowl.
Add the can o’ pumpkin and the sugary spice mix.
Gradually stir in 12 oz of evaporated milk.
Pour it into your pie shell.
Pie 2: New-Fashioned Pumpkin Pie:
Beating 2 eggs in a large bowl.
Add ½ tsp salt, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, ½ tsp ground ginger, 1/4 tsp ground cloves and a can of pumpkin to the eggs.
Gradually stir in 1 cup evaporated milk and 1¾ cups of sweetened condensed milk.
Pour into your pie crust.
Each of these pies goes into a 425-degree Fahrenheit oven. After 15 minutes reduce the temperature to 350-degree Fahrenheit for 30-40 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a butter knife into the middle. If it comes out clean, then it’s done.
Let the pies cool for 2 hours and then serve or put ‘em in the fridge.
Thank you for watching back of the pack! If you have a recipe that you'd like me to try, please leave it in the comments.

Tutorial: Pumpkin Pie!
There are many makeup tutorials to get you through the holidays, but here's one that's a little different: a tutorial for what food to bring! It's nice to always be able to say, Oh, thanks for inviting me, I can bring a pie if you need to! So hang out with me while I make two pumpkin pies, and check below for my recipes. Disclaimer: I am far from a chef, but I make these for every holiday party I go to and no one has ever complained and there usually isn't much left to bring home!
Pie Crust:
For one 8 or 9 inch pie
1/3 cup + 1 tbsp shortening (I prefer the stick version of Crisco)
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
2-3 tbsp cold water (I add water until it's sticky enough to actually form a ball)
Cut shortening into the flour & salt until pieces are the size of small peas. Sprinkle in water one tbsp at a time, tossing until all flour is moistened. Gather pastry into a ball.
Libby's Famous Pumpkin Pie:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 large eggs
1 can (15 oz.) LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
1 can (12 fl. oz.) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
MIX sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger and cloves in small bowl. Beat eggs in large bowl. Stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in evaporated milk.
POUR into pie shell.
BAKE in preheated 425° F oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350° F; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours. Serve immediately or refrigerate. Top with whipped cream before serving.
