How To make Jack O Lantern Chocolate Cake
:
PATTI - VDRJ67A 2 c Cake Flour :
sifted
1 t Soda
1/2 ts Salt
1 c Butter or shortening
1 1/3 c Brown sugar :
firmly packed
3 Eggs well beaten
4 oz Unsweetened Chocolate :
melt
2/3 c Water
Sift flour once, measure, add soda -and salt, and sift together three times. Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well; then chocolate and blend. Add flour, alternately with water, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth. Bake in two greased deep 9" layer pans in 350~ oven for 30 minutes, or until done. Use Halloween Frosting (See recipe) Spread orange tinted frosting between layers, reserving about 1/4 for pumpkin decoration. Spread chocolate frosting on top and sides of,cake, reserving sinall amount for decorating. Decorate top of cake with pumpkin of orange tinted frosting. Outline eyes, nose, and mouth of jack-o'-lantern- face with chocolate frosting, using pastry tube or or a small knife. Melted chocolate may be used for outlining jack-o'-lantern faces.

Jack o' lantern chocolate cake for halloween!

INGREDIENTS:
Chocolate cake:
Dry ingredients,
Flour 240g
Sugar 450g
Baking soda 3 1/2tsp
Salt 1 tsp
Cocoa powder 100g
Wet ingredients,
Buttermilk 260g
Melted butter 120g
Egg 3nos
Water 260g
Vanilla extract 1 1/2tsp
Directions:
1. Mix wet ingredients to dry ingredients to prevent lumps.
2. Portion 500g to one 6 inch pan (bake a total of 3 sponge)
3. Bake at 170°C for 30mins
4. Let cool and chill

Cake icing:
Butter 120g
Icing sugar 2-3cups (depending on the texture you like)
Vanilla extract 2tsp
Cream or Milk 1-2tbsp (depending on the texture you like)
Directions:
1. Beat soften butter till pale in colour
2. Gradually add in icing sugar
3. Add in vanilla and cream/milk
4. Chill

Green candy color, oil or powder based food coloring
For the Jack O’Lanterns
10oz Nestlé Toll House Pumpkin Spice Morsels
10oz Nestlé Toll House Premier White Morsels
30g black candy melts
8 Water balloons, inflated
For the Red Sauce
14oz Nestlé Toll House Premier White Morsels
1.5 cups heavy cream
