Nimbu Pani | नींबू पानी रेसिपी | Indian Lemonade | Nimbu Sharbat Recipe | Summer Drink Recipe
Nimbu means lemon/ lime and Pani means water. So, Nimbu Pani (नींबू पानी ) is lemon/ lime water and an Indian variant of lemonade or limeade. Nimbu pani aka nimbu sharbat gives you instant energy on hot summer days. It’s an excellent thirst quencher. It also replenishes salts and gives that sugar boost that is needed in soring temperatures. There is no distinction in Indian recipes between limes and lemons. Either of them can be used for this recipe.
Ingredients: For 2 tall glasses
2 Nimbu (Lemon/ Lime) 4 tbsp Desi Khand or Bura (Sugar, powdered) ½ tsp Kala Namak (Black Salt) ½ tsp Namak (Sea Salt) 2 tall glasses Pani (Water) ½ tsp Jeera powder (Cumin powder) (optional)
Ingredient Notes: Lemons: Select lemons that are bright yellow in colour and have a thin skin. They have more juice in them. Sugar: Traditionally white sugar is used. But you can use maple sugar, coconut sugar, etc. Adjust sweetness according to your taste. Water: Use the chilled water to make nimbu pani. Black salt (kala namak): It adds a nice zing and taste to the drink. There is no substitute for this ingredient. If you don’t have it then skip it.
Method:
1. Place a strainer over the large deep bowl. Slice the lemon and start juicing over the strainer so it catches all the seeds and pulp. Discard the seeds and pulp. You can also squeeze in the juice with the lemon squeezer, discarding the seeds. 2. Add powdered sugar. Powdered sugar dissolves easily. 3. Add black salt. This salt gives a distinct flavour to Nimbu Pani. 4. Add cumin seeds powder. It gives a subtle flavour to Nimbu Pani. 5. Add salt. 6. Add chilled water and stir well until sugar dissolves in the water completely. 7. Check the seasoning. Pour into the serving glasses and serve chilled.

Helps to fight against heatstroke during hot summer days. Helps to rehydrate your body. Restores the body salt after exercise or any physical activity. It’s a good source of vitamin C.
