Heavenly Holiday Hash! A Chocolate Charlie Copycat! Noreen's Kitchen
Greetings! Happy Holidays! Today I am sharing with you a recipe that Rick and I have created that is inspired by a childhood treat of Rick's. The confection is called a Chocolate Charley and it only made during the holiday season in a specific region of the country. Rick grew up in Indiana and more specifically near South Bend. His mom will usually send us a box of it every Christmas. It is chocolate layered with homemade marshmallow, roasted peanuts and coconut. The thing is massive and comes in a large box and is literally a brick of the stuff that you cut into pieces to enjoy. I thought I could make this and boy did we ever!
We nailed this one folks! This is certainly an excellent copycat and now you can make it for yourself, even if you have never even heard of the original, you can give this one a try. I made it in the crock pot to temper the chocolate so that it will remain beautiful after you put it in the fridge. This stuff is simply heavenly, thus the name.
You can make this in any configuration you like. Large loaves, small loaves, cupcake sized servings or you can pop the whole thing in one big pan and make a massive brick, like the ones we receive each year. No matter how you choose to whip these up, you are not going to be disappointed.
Give these to friends, neighbors, co workers or anyone you want to share a little holiday cheer with!
I hope you give this a try and I hope you love it!
Happy Eating and Happy Holidays!
