Sometimes you just want a juicy, freshly-grilled burger, but ground beef can seem boring after a while. Lamb burgers are an amazingly clean, high-protein substitute that'll keep you from snoring through your next burger night.
They're good for you, too. Lamb is high in omega-3 fatty acids and oleic acid, both of which are said to support heart health. And each of my 4-ounce patties contain approximately 25 grams of protein!
While ground beef is yummy, if it's not organic then it's a heavily processed, industrialized product that's missing some of the health benefits attributed to always-grass-fed lamb.
So, try these gently seasoned and hot-grilled patties resting on a bed of avocado and citrus-chili dressing for a clean, hip, and healthy alternative to the common chuck!

Cook these easy lamb burgers - a great BBQ recipe and classic Australian food.
Prep: 12 mins | Cook: 12 mins | Serves: 4
Ingredients:
500g lamb mince
4 spring onion shallots, finely chopped
¼ cup chopped fresh continental parsley leaves
1 Woolworths Select free-range egg
100g soft Greek fetta, crumbled
Woolworths Select Spanish classic olive oil, for greasing
4 Woolworths fresh bread rolls grain, from the bakery
1 tablespoon Woolworths Select Dijon mustard
1/3 cup Woolworths Select whole egg mayonnaise
50g Woolworths Select mesclun mix salad leaves
2 truss tomatoes, sliced
½ cup Woolworths Gold Spanish Red Onion relish
Method:
1. Combine lamb mince, spring onion, parsley, egg and fetta in a large bowl. Season. Mix well to combine. Shape the mixture into 4 patties; 2.5cm-thick. Transfer to a plate.
2. Heat a greased barbecue flat plate and grill plate to medium heat. Add patties to flat plate, pressing down slightly with the back of a spatula to flatten. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until just cooked through. Transfer to a plate and rest for 6 minutes. Drizzle the cut-sides of the buns with olive oil. Toast on grill plate for 1 minute or until golden.
3. Meanwhile combine mustard and mayonnaise in a bowl. Spread mixture over the bun bases, add salad leaves, lamb burger, tomato and top with relish to serve.
Tip 1: You can replace the bread rolls for pitta pockets or gluten free buns. You can substitute the Lamb burgers in this recipe with Woolworths Lamb & Mint Rissoles.
Tip 2: The seasoning also work well with chicken mince.
Tip 3: The lamb burger mixture can also be rolled into meatballs and poached in a tomato pasta sauce and served with cooked risoni.
I Made The MOST Flavorful Lamb Burger in Existence
This video was created in partnership with the American Lamb Board.
This tasty grilled American lamb pub burger uses a delicious blend of Mediterranean seasonings and spices and is cooked to perfection. You will absolutely love the flavor of this burger.
Not only was this perfectly cooked, but I also took it to the next level by serving it on a toasted Kaiser bun with Arugula, pickles, homemade tzatziki sauce, pickled red onions, crumbled feta cheese, and chopped fresh mint. Talk about a flavor explosion.
This came together from start to finish in under 30 minutes, and it is absolutely worth it, I promise you.

For the Burger:

Serves 4
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Procedures:
1. Pickled Onions: Mix the vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl and submerge the sliced red onions in the mixture. Pickle for 20-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
2. Tzatziki: Place the cucumber shreds in a colander in a bowl and season with about a ½ teaspoon of salt and mix it until combined.
3. Let the moisture from the cumbers drain into the bowl for about 10 minutes.
4. Squeeze the cucumber shreds to get as much extra moisture as possible, and then add it to a separate medium-size bowl along with the remaining recipe ingredients.
5. Whisk until it is well combined, cover, and keep in the refrigerator until ready to use.
6. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the lamb with cumin, coriander, oregano, sumac, salt, pepper, grated onion, and garlic.
7. Form 4 large patties and place them on a hot (550° to 650°) preheated grill and cook for 6 to 7 minutes.
8. Flip the burgers and cook for a further 5 to 6 minutes or until it reaches 160° F internally.
9. Remove the lamb burgers and rest for 4 to 5 minutes before serving.
10. To Assemble: Add some arugula to the bottom toasted Kaiser bun and then layer on with pickle slices, lamb burger, tzatziki, pickled onions, feta cheese, mint, and the top toasted kaiser bun. Repeat with the other 3 lamb burgers and serve.
