How To make Deep Dish Meat Pie
pastry for single crust pie 1 cup potato
chopped
1/2 cup onion :
chopped
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, savory or sage -- crushed
1 1/4 cups beef broth
1 1/2 cups loose-pack frozen peas & carrots
2 cups cooked beef, pork, lamb or veal -- cubed
Prepare pastry. Roll pastry into a 12" circle. Cover and set aside. In a medium saucepan cook potato and onion in butter over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 5-6 minutes or till onion is tender but not brown. Stir in flour, herb and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Add broth all at once. Stir in peas and carrots. Cook and stir till bubbly.
Stir in meat. Transfer mixture to a 1 1/2 quart casserole. Top with pastry; trim pastry to 1/2" beyond rim. Turn under and flute edges of pastry. Cut slits for steam. Place on a baking sheet. Bake in a 425F degree oven for 25-30 minutes or till golden. Let stand 10 minutes.

1-2tbsp - Coconut Oil or oil of your choice
To Thicken Filling
1tbsp - Cornstarch
1/4cup - Water
Pie Crust
4cups - All Purpose or Plain Flour
1tsp - Baking Powder
1tsp - Salt
1 1/2 sticks - Butter that is 1/2cup + 4tbsp or 169.5g
I/4 - Medium Grated Onion (Optional)
3/4-1cup - Cold Water

1. Meat pie
Pie dough
• 500g all-purpose flour (4 cups)
• 10g salt (1½ teaspoons)
• 230g unsalted butter (2 sticks)
• 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoon cold water
*skip if using salted butter
Pie filling
• 450g ground beef /minced beef
• 1 large potato (diced)
• 1 carrot(diced)
• 1/2 teaspoon each
• Curry
• Thyme
• Chilli pepper
• Garlic powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 seasoning cube
• 2 tablespoons flour
• 3/4 cup water
Pie Dough:
500g all purpose flour/4 cups
250g butter (2 sticks + 2 tablespoons)
1½ teaspoon salt (8g)
1/2 cup water + 2 tablespoons
2. Fried meat pie
Pie dough
* 250g all purpose flour
* 3/4 teaspoon salt(1/2+¼)
* 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
* Half stick or 1/4 cup butter
* 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp water
Pie filling
* 1 tbsp oil
* Handful of onion (finely chopped)
* 250g minced beef
* 1 medium Irish potatos
* 1 large carrot chopped
* ½ cup chopped small bell pepper
* ½ teaspoon each of
* Salt
* Beef seasoning cube (knorr beef cube)
* Garlic powder
* Onion powder
* 1 teaspoon paprika
* ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1 tablespoons flour
* 3/4 cup water
Extras:
* extra flour for dusting
* 1 beaten egg for sealing

Pie Dough:
* 500g all purpose flour/4 cups
* 250g butter (2 sticks + 2 tablespoons)
* 1½ teaspoon salt (8g)
* 1/2 cup water + 2 tablespoons
Pie filling
* 500g minced beef (0.5kg)(chuck roast)
* 3 tablespoons oil
* 1/2 small onion
* 1 large carrot (diced

* 2 medium Irish potatos or 4 small
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 seasoning cube (knorr beef cube)
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Hello folks!
So today I made these lovely Australian, or ‘Aussie’ pies! First time trying these, and we absolutely loved them…the addition of the tomato sauce was really nice with the beef :) Highly recommended.

What I used - Makes 4 pies
2 Sheets of Puff or shortcrust pastry
450g (1 lb) Beef Mince or ground beef
1 Medium onion - finely diced
1 Tablespoon of cornflour or cornstarch
2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce
200ml (7 oz) Beef stock
170ml (6 oz) Tomato Ketchup
1 Beaten egg
Salt and Pepper
Oil for frying
