Southern crockpot cornbread dressing “stuffing” *EASY RECIPE* dump and go !
4 cups cornbread
1 cup chopped celery
1 large onion chopped
2 tablespoons Sage (more if want)
3eggs
1stick butter (melted-salted or unsalted)
3piece white bread
2 cans cream of chicken soup
Add celery, onion, cornbread Sage, eggs, melted butter, bread to mixing bowl….mix well
Add pepper to taste
I add salt after I cook- to taste
Smooth 1/2 can soup on bottom of crock pot
Add 1/2 dressing mixture
Smooth over
Add 1 can soup and smooth over
Add other 1/2 dressing mixture
Add last 1/2 can soup and smooth over
I use a small crockpot (this can be doubled for a bigger crockpot)
Cook on high for 1 hour
Then low for 2 hours
This is soft dressing- if you like it more cake-like or a harder consistency- cook in oven on 400degeees for 20-25 mins- just know it will be a bit dryer
If you cook this in a bigger crockpot, it tends to taste dryer- so use a smaller one or double the recipe!
Enjoy!
