How to Make Cornbread Pancakes| Cornbread Cakes |Quick and Easy Recipe
What up Guys?!?! In Today's video I show you how to make cornbread pancakes. If you seen my how to make tasty collard greens without meat video, you may have noticed these on the side. I LOVE LOVE LOVE eating my collard greens with cornbread pancakes. My Grandma used to make them all the time. A few of you guys asked how I make them sooo here you go! I hope you enjoy it!
Ingredients:
Makes 8-10 pancakes
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup of yellow cornmeal
about 1 teaspoon of salt
3 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/3 cup of sugar
1/3 cup of softened butter (for vegan, use vegan butter)
1 egg (for vegan, use just egg or an substitute. Use 1/4 cup of just egg to equal 1 egg)
Start with 1 cup of milk (Add a little more as you mix. You dont want it too thick nor to loose.)
* If using a cast iron pan you don't want to set stove too high being it gets hot quick, so start a little
under medium heat then adjust if needed.
* If not using a cast iron pan then start a little above medium heat and adjust if needed.

How to make Crispy, Lacy, Fried Cornbread - Old-fashioned southern style recipe. Easy & delicious!
Crispy, lacy cornbread is so easy to make. You don't even need a precise recipe. You just need to understand the principles of how it's made. You're using regular corn meal, salt, and water. If you like sweet cornbread, you can also add sugar. Some people call this hot water cornbread, but we never bothered with using hot water to make this. It turns out the same with room temperature water.
The main thing to remember is make a batter that you like the taste of and then thin it out to make a crispy cornbread. The thicker the batter, the thicker (and chewier) your cornbread will be. The thinner the batter, the crisper and thinner the cornbread will be.

Hope all of you are doing well, staying Safe and Healthy!!!
Today I am making a Southern Classic Recipe just like my Grandmother use to make, Old Fashioned Hoe Cakes!
Hoe Cakes are Cornbread shaped Pancakes and fried to golden perfection, crispy on the outside, buttery and tender in the inside. Great to serve for Soul Food Sunday or anytime of the week; if y’all a fan of Cornbread, y’all will love this!!!
Ellen’s Cornbread Recipes Playlist:
1 cup self-rising or all purpose flour
1 cup self-rising or regular yellow cornmeal
3 1/2 tsp baking powder (if using all purpose flour)
1/2 tsp salt (if using all purpose flour)
2 extra large or jumbo eggs, room temperature
1 tbsp white sugar
1/2 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp natural butter flavoring or pure butter extract
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil
1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil, 4-6 tbsp butter, 2-3 tbsp bacon grease or cooking spray, for frying
Butter
Honey, Maple Syrup, or Molasses, for serving (optional
In a cast iron skillet or large frying pan over medium heat, add oil, butter, bacon grease or cooking spray and bring to temperature.
In a measuring cup, add water and 1/4 cup oil; stir until well combined. In a medium or large bowl, add flour, cornmeal, (baking powder and salt, if using) eggs, sugar, honey, butter extract, evaporated milk and water/oil mixture; whisk or stir until well combined. Add a 1/4 cup of the cornbread mixture gently into the hot pan. Fry on both sides until golden brown and crisp. (add more oil if needed). Remove the hoecakes from the pan then place them onto a pan with paper towels to drain. Serve with butter, maple syrup, honey, or molasses (if using) and enjoy.
