Almond Pie Recipe ???????????????????? Unique Thanksgiving Dessert ???????? ???? Like Pecan Pie ????
My almond pie recipe is easy and delicious! If you like pecan pie but want to try something different, this recipe shows you how to swap out the pecans for another type of nuts: almonds! A teaspoon of almond extract brings out the flavor even more, but the thing that really made this pie good was the combination of brown sugar and cinnamon. Although I think that crushed almonds would be better than sliced in this pie, this culinary experiment was still a great success. If you want to learn how to make almond pie, check out this video, the second in my 2022 Thanksgiving pie series.
Overall, I really liked this almond pie. It tasted exactly how I expected: a pecan pie with almonds. I always use brown sugar in my nut pies, and I think it worked well in this one, too. However, this was my first time using almond extract in a pie. I felt like it just made sense to use it, and I'm glad I did because I think it helped to bring out the flavor.
Another first for me in this recipe was adding cinnamon to a nut pie. When doing research for this pie, I saw a lot of recipes for roasted almonds with brown sugar and cinnamon. Since that flavor combination came up more than once, I decided to give it a try in this pie, and I'm glad I did because it was fantastic. Now I will have to try adding cinnamon to my next pecan pie.
One thing that I would change is that next time I would use crushed almonds instead of sliced. As I said in the video, I think slivered almonds might burn in the oven, so sliced would be the next best thing. However, thinking back to the texture of the pecan and almond pies I made, I think that crushed almonds would be the best option. I've never seen them sold crushed, so you'd have to do that on your own. Yes, it's an extra step, but I think it'd be worth it.
In short, this almond pie recipe was very easy and delicious. If you like almonds and pecan pie, and you want to make something that's a bit different, give this recipe a try. It would be perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any day!???????????????????????????? ????

HOW TO MAKE BUTTERY ALMOND PIE CRUST!
This gluten free pie crust is buttery and tasty, and only takes minutes to prepare. Use this as your 'go to' crust for cream pies, fruit pies, pecan or pumpkin. If you're gluten sensitive, this is the crust for you! Looking for a savory gluten free crust?, try this recipe, but omit the sugar and increase the salt to 1/2 tsp. For fun, try adding garlic powder, onion powder or a little ground sage for chicken pot pies! I'd love to hear your comments below. Enjoy!
Recipe for BUTTERY, ALMOND PIE CRUST (Gluten Free)
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
2 Cups Ultra Fine Almond Flour
1/4 tsp salt
4 Tbsp powdered sugar (I put raw sugar in blender and powdered it that way)
Mix dry ingredients together
Add 3/4 stick melted butter (or 6 tbsp, measure before melting)
Blend until completely mixed
Spray a 9'' pie dish (I used a deep dish, glass pie dish) with a non-stick spray
Pour almond mixture into dish and spread evenly on bottom and up sides
Use the bottom of a measuring cup (or bottom of glass) to evenly press bottom of crust
Pinch top of crust evenly all the way around with fingers
Pierce bottom of crust with fork
Bake 20 minutes if you are going to be using this crust for a cream pie that will be going into the refrigerator after you fill it.
Pre-Bake (bottom only crust) 10-12 minutes if you are going to be filling this crust with fruit, pecan filling or pumpkin pie filling. *Make sure it's cooked long enough to be firm to touch or lightly brown, especially when using a wet filling like pumpkin. Allow to cool before filling it, then follow directions for the pie you're baking.
*cover your crust with foil or a pie crust shield while baking your pie to prevent burning, this won't be necessary during a par baking.
