MeBe Cookin' Episode 2
In this episode of MeBe Cookin' we will bake chocolate chip cookies using prepared cookie dough and share tips for encouraging language and communcation while having fun!
Here are some helpful tips from our MeBe Cookin' team: - Pause the video when you need time to complete the step so that you can do the steps at your child's pace. - Cooking is a great way to help facilitate language, and baking cookies is a really motivating activity for our kiddos! Think about how you and your child are using language, how you are understanding language, and how you're having fun with language during the activity. - Practice social thinking and communication skills by asking why questions. For example, why do we need to space the cookies apart on the baking sheet? Why do we set a timer? - This baking activity is also great for kiddos who have some feeding difficulties. They can participate by feeling the texture of the cookie dough, which might be surprising to some kiddos. Notice how the picture of the baked cookies on the package looks different than the squishy cookie dough before it's baked! - Have fun and go at your child's pace!
Stay tuned for future episodes, and let us know what you think in the comments!
