1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Today we cook this beastly American Apple Pie. The apple cake baked according to the authentic American recipe.

INGREDIENTS
For the apple pie:
- 2 sheets of shortcrust dough
- 1 kg Granny Smith apples
- 125 g sugar
- 3 tbsp. fine corn flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon powder
- ½ lemon
- 25 g butter
To decorate:
- 1 egg
- Sugar
- Vanilla ice cream

DIRECTIONS
1. Peel the apples and cut them into large cubes. Place in a bowl and pour in the lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon. Mix and marinate for 30 minutes.
2. After this time, drain the juice released by the apples and add the melted butter and fine cornmeal.
3. Roll out a sheet of shortcrust dough, place it on the greased mold and pour the apples over the dough. Roll out the second dough disc, cut equal strips and place on top of the apples forming a lattice.
4. Seal at the ends, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar on top. Bake at 180ºC for 1 hour and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients:-
1 cup - 150g All purpose sifted Flour
⅔ cup - 130g Sugar
3 tsp Baking powder (12g)
Pinch Salt
2 whole eggs
⅓ cup - 60g oil
½ cup (a little less) - 100 ml milk
3 - 4 apples
FOR FROSTING (icing)
1 whole egg
4 tbsp - 80g melted butter
½ cup - 100g sugar
Lemon zest
Preheat your oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit
Step 1.
Prepare cake batter by mixing all dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, pinch of salt)in a mixing bowl followed by the wet ingredients (2 whole eggs, oil and milk).Mix until there are no lumps and set aside. Pour into a well buttered non stick cake pan .I used a 9 inch or 23cm cake pan.
Step 2.
Peel and core the apples then cut into eight, dice each wedge into three into pieces. Alternatively,you can leave it unpeeled but make sure to scrub it well.You could use any baking variety.I used Granny Smith. Place on top of cake mixture and into the oven and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.
Step 3.
In another mixing bowl, add the sugar, and egg. Mix well using a whisk .Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave and add the melted butter into the mixture along with the zest of one whole lemon and combine well.
Step 4.
Remove cake from oven, (cake should be cooked in centre, check with a skewer/toothpick first) pour the frosting mixture over the cake, Make sure it covers all then replace in oven and bake for another 12 minutes.
Step 5.
Once cooked, leave to cool for 10 minutes. Run a blade along the inside of the cake pan to separate the cake. Place a cooling rack on top of cake and flip over. Remove cake pan.Place a serving plate upside down on top of cake and flip back.

This easy apple cake is a delicious dessert that's perfect for any occasion. The cake has a light and fluffy texture and is infused with the sweet and tangy flavors of apples and lemon juice. The cake batter is made with a combination of eggs, sugar, yogurt, milk, sunflower oil, and vanilla extract. This creates a moist and tender crumb that is perfectly complemented by the sweet and slightly tart apple slices.
To make the cake, you'll need 2 apples, which you'll need to peel and slice into thin pieces.In a pan, melt 25 grams of butter and add apple slices, add 15 grams of lemon juice and 20 grams of sugar. Cook the apple slices in the mixture until they soften a little.
Next, prepare a cake batter by whisking 2 eggs with 130g of sugar, adding 60g of yogurt, 60ml of milk, 60ml of sunflower oil, and a dash of vanilla extract to the egg mixture and whisk until well combined. Sift 200g of flour and 8g of baking powder into the mixture and gently fold until the batter is smooth.
Pour the cake batter into a greased 18cm cake pan and arrange the cooked apple slices on top.
Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Once the cake is done, let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before removing it from the pan and placing it on a wire rack to cool completely. If you like, you can grill the cake for an additional 2 minutes until the top is golden brown. This apple cake is a crowd-pleaser and is sure to become a family favorite!
