Food Fantasy - Mom's Tasty Tuna Salad
Cooking is an art and like all good art it's in the eyes, and in this case, also in the nose and taste buds of the beholder.
This is how Chris' mother prepared tuna salad and in his travels, he has yet to find a better recipe for his liking. It can be served on bread, toast, crackers, a bed of lettuce, or as a dip with crudités.
Staying healthy and still eating well motivates him to find new and interesting ways of concocting foods. If any of you can add something to the mix let him know so he can also try it.
As a child, Chris was already adding condiments to canned goods to make it taste the way he liked it.
As he was growing up he used to watch and learn how his grandmother and mother peeled, cut, sliced, shredded, boiled, fried, baked, and prepared for serving all sorts of dishes. He and his youngest brother Phil have carried on the tradition of preparing and serving meals from their Korean ancestry.
Later he, and his brother Fred, worked in an exclusive Cantonese Restaurant as dishwashers and busboys where Chris added to his culinary knowledge by observing the Chinese cooks conjure up different dishes in their amazing versatile woks. He got to sample all of the cuisines when the sometimes half-full serving dishes of delights came back to the kitchen to be cleaned, rinsed, washed, and dried.
In Europe, while teaching kung fu he had the good fortune to instruct a private student who owned and operated one of the ten best Italian gourmet restaurants in Germany. He got to go back to the kitchen to see how and what the cooks were doing, which again added to his love of food and it's preparation.
His ongoing discovery of the creative and varied multiculti food experiences offered here in Germany continues to add to his knowledge and appreciation in the preparation of breakfast, lunch, dinner and all the snacks and goodies (especially their bread and baked goods) in between! Guten Appetit!
