EGG WHITE and PLUM Dessert Recipes EASY!|How to Make PRUNE WHIP!
Egg white and plum dessert recipes easy! How to Make PRUNE WHIP! This recipe is from the Watkins Cook Book which was copyrighted around 1938. This deceptively delicious recipe will surprise you! It’s tasty, sticky, and the texture is reminiscent of a toasted marshmallow. If you like fig filled cookies then you’ll love this dessert! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Stewed/Mashed Prunes
1 cup dried prunes
2/3 cup water
Cook prunes in water until soft, about 10 minutes. Puree in food processor or blender until smooth. Let cool.
Prune Whip
1 cup mashed prunes
1/8 TSP salt
3 egg whites
¼ TSP vanilla
3 TBSP sugar
½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Mix prunes, salt, vanilla, and sugar together. Add walnuts if using. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold egg whites into prunes. Put into greased baking dish (I used a 1 quart casserole dish). Set baking pan into another, larger baking pan and add hot water to larger baking pan so that it comes up halfway on the prune baking pan. Bake for about 15 minutes at 350F. Serve with whipped cream.
