How To make Poppyseed Cake
2 Eggs
1/2 c Apple juice concentrate
1/3 c Butter; melted
1 tb Lemon peel, grated
1 tb Lemon juice
1 ts Vanilla
1 c Flour
1/3 c Poppy seeds
1 1/2 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Baking soda
1/8 ts Salt
Preheat oven to 350. Beat eggs in large bowl. Blend in juice, butter, lemon peel, lemon juice, and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients. Gradually add to egg mixture, beating until well blended. Pour batter evenly into greased 9" square baking pan. Bake 20 minutes, until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean and
edges are golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature. Nutrition information per piece: 206 calories, 4 gm protein, 21 gm carbohydrate, 12 gm fat, 74 mg cholesterol, 265 mg sodium, 1 diabetic starch/bread exchange, 1/4 diabetic medium-fat meat exchange, 2 diabetic fat exchange, 1/2 diabetic fruit exchange. Ingredients
400 g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
200 g sugar
100 g ground poppy seeds
1 egg
50 ml oil
juice of half a lemon
320 ml milk
200 g sour cherry

Lemon Poppyseed Cake For Two - Glen And Friends Cooking
This is another in our small easy cakes for two series. This glazed lemon poppy seed cake recipe is a quick to make after supper treat.
Ingredients:
Cake
20 mL (4 tsp) poppy seeds
125 mL (½ cup) cake and pastry flour
1 mL (¼ tsp) baking powder
.5 mL (1/8 tsp) salt
75 mL (1/3 cup) sugar
60 mL (¼ cup) butter, melted
5 mL (1 tsp) limoncello
1 egg
15 mL (1 Tbsp) lemon zest
5 mL (1 tsp) lemon juice
Glaze
30 mL (2 Tbsp) sugar
15 mL (1 Tbsp) lemon juice
15 mL (1 Tbsp) limoncello
Method:
Preheat oven to 160ºC (325ºF).
Grease and flour a 6” round cake pan.
In a bowl mix together poppy seeds, flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl whisk together sugar, butter, limoncello, egg, lemon zest, and
lemon juice.
Whisk flour mixture into sugar mixture.
Scrape into prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool in pan for 10-15 minutes.
Mix together the ingredients for the glaze.
Turn cake out on to wire rack, poke holes in the top with a skewer and brush on the glaze.

Most of us have tried and enjoyed lemon poppy seed cake. But, turn up the volume on the poppy seed and omit the lemon and you have a dessert in the Czech style. Across Eastern Europe poppy seed cakes and pastries are not uncommon. But, unlike in the U.S. where poppy seed is added as just one of several flavors, European poppy seed desserts go whole hog on the tasty black seeds. In Germany, Poland, and what is now Czechoslovakia poppy seed treats like cakes and rolls are common.
