Pizza Burgers
Pizza burgers are an ingenious idea of combining two of your favorite dishes into one. They will be a sure hit with all ages, but the kids will really love them. I always serve them up as a weekend treat. They are also a perfect idea for birthdays or picnics.
You can alter the recipe in several ways, but here are a few suggestions: First, I use pizza sauce in the recipe. When I’m making regular burger, I always use ketchup, but seeing these are pizza burgers, pizza sauce seems to be a logical replacement. We make our pizza sauce from scratch, but you can simply buy it in the store if you wish. get the recipe:
Next, we use Italian seasoning as it adds such a nice flavor to the burgers, and it can be picked up in most grocery stores. Pizza seasoning is also readily available and would make a nice substitute. If you can’t find either once of these spices, you can leave them out or doctor up your own.
The recipe makes four good size pizza burgers, but if you want to make them smaller, they make great sliders too. Just alter the bun size and cooking time accordingly.
These little burgers fry up nicely in the frying pan, but they can be done on the grill or in the oven. I always put the cheese and pepperoni on last and put a lid over them for about 2 minutes to cook the pepperoni and melt the cheese down. If you don’t feel the pepperoni is cooked enough, you can throw it in the pan alongside the burger for a few minutes.
