How To make Nana's Sugar Cookies
3/4 c Soft margarine
1 1/2 c Powdered sugar
2 Egg whites
1 ts Vanilla extract
2 1/2 c All-purpose flour; or
-unbleached 1 ts Baking powder
1 ts Cream of tartar
Recipe by: Healthy Cooking for Two In a large bowl, cream margarine and sugar; add the egg white and vanilla extract. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and cream of tartar; gradually add to margarine mixture. Cover the bowl and chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 400 degrees; lightly coat cookie sheets with cooking spray. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface; cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Decorate with colored sugar, if desired. Bake for 7 to 8 minutes, or until slightly golden. You may decorate with frosting after cookies are cooled. Penny Halsey (ATBN65B). Making Homemade Sugar Cookies with Nana! (Recipe added)
In this episode, Gizmo takes his show on location to Nana's house and he does what he always does when he goes to Nana's-- MAKE COOKIES!!! In a bit of a break from food reviews, Gizmo shows you how to make these tried and true classics.
Recipe: Sugar Cookies Deluxe
1 cup margarine or butter
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon (each) of salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 to 4.5 cups flour
Cream together butter, oil and both sugars.
Add eggs, almond, and vanilla
Then add dry ingredients Mix till smooth
Refrigerate at least 1 hr. or overnight
Make into one inch balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar
Place balls on buttered cookie sheet
Press balls down with glass bottom that's been moistened in water and dipped in granulated sugar.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-12 min. Keep an eye on them so they don't get too brown.
Let set for 1-2 min on cookie sheet before removing.
The recipe makes 5-6 dozen.

Nana's Oatmeal butterscotch cookies
Recipe
1 cup of butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup of white sugar
2 eggs
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 1/4 cups of flour
3 cups of uncooked oatmeal
1 cup of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
1- 11 oz bag of butterscotch chips
Mix all of your wet ingredients first. butter, eggs & vanilla. Then add your sugars and mix again. Now add the flour and spices mix. Finally add the oatmeal and mix in by hand, add the chips and also mix by hand. Now you're ready to bake 8 to 12 min depending on your oven. Enjoy!
