Review: Dr. McDougall's Vegan Instant Soups (Chicken Noodle, Black Bean & Rice, Split Pea)

When following a whole food, plant-based diet, it can be a challenge to find meals that are easy to take on the go. We discovered these instant soups from Dr. McDougall's Right Foods and they are a great option for travel or just keeping around as a backup meal!
Since we try to keep our sodium intake low, we decided to check out three of the lower sodium varieties: Chicken Flavored Noodle, Black Bean & Rice and Split Pea. All of the soups are vegan and have no added oil.

1:12 CREAMY TACO SAUCE
Creamy Taco Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
1 tbsp maple syrup
2 steamed potatoes (yellow preferred)
1 tbsp of water
1 tsp of non-dairy milk
1 tsp of lemon juice
1 tsp of onion powder
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of smoked paprika
1 tsp of cumin
1 tsp of salt
Directions:
Blend in your high-speed blender until smooth
Enjoy!
8:30 LUNCH TACOS
10:38 LOW-FAT TACO SAUCE
Low-Fat Taco Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
⅓ cup of hemp seeds
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp garlic
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 garlic cloves
1 tbsp maple syrup
½ cup of water
Directions:
Blend in your high-speed blender until smooth
Enjoy!

I Did Mary Mcdougall's Rice Mini
It’s a diet where you choose a starch, and Make that starch central to each and every meal for 10 straight days . You can choose potatoes, OR sweet potatoes, OR a whole grain like brown/red/black/wild rice OR quinoa, but once you choose – that is the starch you’re stuck with for the duration. You then add green and non-starchy vegetables as side dishes and eat until you are comfortably full. You are not allowed fruits, nuts, seeds, oil or beans.
The idea is to make the next 10 days SO boring and monotonous, that we only eat when we are actually hungry.
Remember, you are only doing this for 10 days, although I know people who hve done it for longer than a month.
What I like about it is that during that time I had no cravings, binges or any desire to comfort eat.
