Cat Litter Cake | Halloween Party Dessert | Req. by Robert Evans
More Halloween shenanigans are on the way thanks to Robert Evans. We’ve got a cake perfect for any Halloween party. Comprised of yellow and chocolate cake, vanilla pudding, blonde Oreo cookies and strategically placed Tootsie Rolls, this dessert couldn’t be easier to assemble. Refrigerating the cake for a few hours will help to soften the cookie crumbles and allow the pudding to hold the cake base together. Consider this for your next Halloween engagement.
Cat Litter Cake
1 yellow box cake mix, baked according to package directions
1 chocolate box cake mix, baked according to package directions
2, 3oz packages of vanilla instant pudding, mixed according to package directions and refrigerated
1 family sized package of blonde Oreos, or any vanilla cream-filled sandwich cookie
Tootsie Rolls in various sizes
6-7 drops green food coloring
After the cakes have cooled, crumble them and toss with the vanilla pudding, mixing the chocolate and vanilla cakes together. In a brand new, clean and lined litterbox, or a food safe pan resembling a litterbox, fill half way with the cake mixture. Using a rolling pin and plastic bag, or food processor, crumble the cookies into litter-sized bits. Scoop out a cup and toss in a bag with green food coloring to resemble the odorizer pieces in cat litter. Set the colored crumbs aside.
Using the uncolored crumbs, top the cake mixture with half the crumbs. Add another layer of the cake mixture. Add the green colored cookie crumbs to the uncolored cookie crumbs. Layer all of it on top of the cake in the litterbox. Warm unwrapped Tootsie Rolls in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. Stretch and bend them into appropriate shapes in the cookie crumbs. Serve with a new, clean litter scoop. Refrigerate leftovers.

How to Make Kitty Litter Cake
Learn How to Draw!
Mahalo's expert chef Jennifer Martello shows you how to create a kitty litter cake using German chocolate and white cake.
Kitty litter cakes can make a fascinating centerpiece for
Halloween and April Fools' Day parties. Despite the realistic cat litter appearance of this dessert, it is filled with sweet treats such as pudding and cake. Jennifer Martello takes the viewer step-by-step through the process of how to make kitty litter cake.
To make this cake, a person needs to have a kitty litter box, Golden Oreo cookies, Tootsie Rolls, a sheet of chocolate cake, a sheet of vanilla cake, two packages of vanilla
pudding and green food coloring. The cake can be made from a cake mix or a homemade cake recipe. This project uses chocolate and white cake. However, they can be substituted with other flavors.
Step 1: Make the Cake Layer
---------------------------------------------------------------------
One layer of German chocolate and one layer of white sheet cake are baked ahead of time. Also, two packages of pudding are made before constructing the kitty litter cake. The flavor of the pudding is vanilla. However, any flavor can be used in this recipe.
Starting with the chocolate cake, she takes large chunks of it and breaks it up into smaller pieces in the kitty litter container. Once all the chocolate cake has been transferred, the procedure is repeated with the white cake. After all the white cake has been used, the cook makes sure that the pieces are not too large and are spread out smoothly. Next, she spreads the vanilla pudding over the cake. A large wooden spoon is used to distribute the pudding evenly over the surface.
Step 2: Make the Litter Layer
---------------------------------------------------------------------
To make the litter, Martello crushes the cookies with a food processor. However, she states that they can be crushed by hand. After the cookies have been turned into medium-sized crumbs, she adds some drops of green food coloring and continues to grind the cookies into fine crumbs. The mixture has a green tint once complete. Next, she sprinkles the green crumbs over the pudding layer.
Step 3: Add the Tootsie Rolls
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The chef sits the Tootsie Rolls in the microwave for 10 seconds. Once they are done, she rolls them in the palm of her hands. She keeps the edges smooth and tapered. Afterwards, she rolls the candy in the cookie crumb layer before placing it on top. The process is repeated with the other candies. Finally, she partially buries some of the them in the cookie crumbs.
