Feeding Creatively: Baked Ham Slice with Brown Sugar-Ginger Glaze & Boiled Dill Potatoes
In this episode of Feeding Creatively, I share recipes for a baked ham slice with brown sugar-ginger glaze and boiled potatoes seasoned with dill. If you want a meal that tastes like a special occasion without the hours of working in a hot kitchen such meals usually entail, try these recipes!
BAKED HAM SLICE
1 ham slice, cooked thoroughly
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 t. ground ginger
A pinch of black pepper
Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Spray a glass baking dish with non-stick spray and place the ham slice in it.
In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, ginger ,and black pepper. Sprinkle the mixture over the ham slice and bake it in the oven for 30 minutes.
BOILED DILL POTATOES
Potatoes (1 per person)
1 sprig of fresh mint
1/2 t. salt
2 T. butter
2 T. finely-chopped dill
Salt and pepper
Wash the potatoes and peel them. Once they’re peeled, rinse them again.
Put the potatoes in a pot and fill them with just enough water to not quite cover them. Add the 1/4 t. salt and the sprig of mint. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and simmer gently for 10-20 minutes. Test the potatoes with a skewer to make sure they are soft.
Once the potatoes are soft, drain them. Return them to the pot. Add the butter, dill, and salt and pepper, to taste. Stir the potatoes so they’ll be evenly coated. Serve.

Easy Ham Recipe - How to Bake a Ham
A delicious ham turns any gathering into a special occasion. It's easy to prepare a ham, too. Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan. Next, insert a meat thermometer. Insert the thermometer into the meat, making sure it's not touching bone, or you won't get an accurate temperature reading. Bake the ham in a 325-degree oven for about one hour and 45 minutes. While the ham is baking, make a flavorful glaze. When the baking time is up, remove the ham from the oven, and brush with some of the glaze. Bake the ham 30 minutes more, or until the thermometer reads 130 degrees and the ham is ready for carving.
