How To make Curried Beef and Potatoes
3/4 lb Beef top round steak
2 sm Potatoes, halved and thinly
-sliced (1/2 lb total) 1/2 c Beef broth
2 ts Cornstarch
1/4 ts Salt
Nonstick spray 3/4 c Chopped onion
3/4 c Chopped green or red pepper
1 tb Cooking or olive oil
1/2 ts Ground cumin
1 ts Curry powder
1 md Tomato, coarsely chopped
1. Partially freeze meat. Thinly slice across the grain into bite-
sized strips. Set aside. 2. Cook sliced potatoes in boiling water about 5 minutes or until
tender. Drain and set aside. 3. Meanwhile, for sauce, stir together beef broth, cornstarch and
salt. 4. Spray a wok or large skillet with nonstick spray. Heat over medium
high heat. Add onion and stir-fry 2 minutes. Add green pepper and stir-fry about 2 minute more or till vegetables are crisp-tender. Remove from wok. 5. Add oil to hot wok. Add beef, curry powder and cumin. Stir-fry 2-3
minutes or until beef is done. Push beef from the center of the wok. 6. Stir sauce and add to the center of the wok. Cook and stir till
thickened and bubbly. Stir in onion mixture, potatoes and tomato. Cook and stir all ingredients for 1 minute or till heated through.

Ingredients required for beef marinade
500g beef or mutton pieces (cut into desired size)
1 tsp salt
1 Lime juice
Ingredients required for green masala paste
1 cup fresh coriander
3-4 green chillies (mild spicy)
3-4 garlic cloves
1” ginger piece
2 green cardamom
7-9 cloves
10-14 peppercorns
1” cinnamon stick
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp sugar
Tamarind (small lime size)
1 tbsp vinegar
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 small fried onion
Water as required
Other ingredients required
2 medium potatoes ( cut into medium pieces)
1 medium onion (cut into medium dice)
1 1/2 cups water
1 small carrot (cut lengthwise)
Half bell pepper (cut into dice)
6-8 beans (cut diagonally)
Salt to taste
Oil as required

Sri Lankan style spicy beef and potato recipe is one of the favourite recipes for those who love spicy food. Today we are going to show you how to cook this amazing Sri Lankan style beef and potato dish!
Ingredients
Onion and Garlic Mix
1 red onion - cut
2 green chillies - cut
½” ginger - chopped
4 garlic cloves
Process:
Add the above ingredients to a mini mincer of a food processor and chop everything to a rough paste. Alternatively, make a rough paste using a mortar and a pestle or even final cut
Marinating Beef
500g of curry beef – cut to pieces (approximately 2 cm x 1 cm)
2 Tbsp roasted curry powder
1 Tbs salt
¼ Tsp turmeric
Process:
Add the above ingredients and mix until beef is well coated with the marinade. Keep it aside for 10-15 min to marinate.
Ingredients for Spice Mix
1 Tbsp of white rice (we used basmati rice)
6 cloves
8 cardamom
1 ½” cinnamon
1 Tbsp of peppercorn
3 Tbsp of scrapped coconut
Process:
Heat up a pan over medium heat, add rice and dry roast until rice becomes slightly brown
Add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, peppercorn and continue roasting
Add scrapped coconut and roast until the coconut becomes brown
Take off from the stove and spread over a tray
Grind everything until becomes a fine powder
Ingredients for Main Dish
500g of marinated curry beef (marinated before)
1 Tsp of mustard seeds
1 Tsp of cumin seeds
1 Tsp of fennel seeds
1 Tsp of fenugreek seeds
2 Tbsp of chilli powder
1 whole tomato – diced
2 medium size potatoes - cut
A few curry leaves
Salt to taste
1 cup of water
2 Tbsp of roasted spice mix (prepared before)
Onion and garlic mix (prepared before)
2 cups of coconut milk
Process:
Heat up a pan over medium heat, once the pan is hot, add oil
Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and let them crack
Then, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds and fry until they become golden brown
Add onion-garlic mix (previously prepared), and sauté for about 60 sec
Add curry leaves and give a quick mix
Add red chilli powder and give it a quick mix
Add unroasted curry powder and do the same
Add a pinch of salt and mix
Add diced tomatoes and cook until tomatoes become a paste
Add marinated beef, mix well to combine, cover and cook while stirring occasionally for about 10-15 min
Add potatoes and give a good mix to combine
Add a cup of water, salt to taste, mix well and cover and cook again over low to medium heat until the potatoes are cooked well
Add the previously roasted spice mix powder and give it a good mix
Add coconut milk, bring it to a boil under high heat, turn the heat down and simmer the sauce to your liking
Taste and add salt if required.

Thank you all so much for subscribing to my channel! In this video I’ll be showing you how to make curry beef and potatoes. I know traditionally, people eat stew beef but we don’t always have to! You can have it curry style as well and still enjoy it! I go through each step and show you how how to get fork tender curry beef! Gather your grocery list! I used:
To season the beef:
4 lbs chuck beefstew
1 tsp powdered turmeric
1 tsp chief’s curry powder
1 tsp jamaican choice curry powder
1 tbsp adobo seasoning
1 tbsp green seasoning
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 onion finely chopped
1 scallion finely chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
To toast curry:
1 tbsp corn or vegetable oil
2 garlic cloves finely chopped
1 tsp cumin
2 tbsp chief’s curry powder
2 tbsp jamaican choice curry powder
Add 1/2 cup water to the pot before cooking it
