Easy Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches
You put your hand upon your hip, when you dip, I dip, FRENCH DIP! That’s right, here’s an easy French dip recipe, with minimal ingredients and maximum satisfaction. Two easy steps, crockpot and then to the oven for melting and crisping, before the dipping. A recipe that calls for Guinness (or your favorite Stout) beer, you should probably consider this a perfect St. Patrick’s Day meal.
Recipe
One 3-4 pound beef roast (rump roast for sliced beef or chuck roast for shredded beef)
Salt, pepper and garlic seasoning
1 tbsp of worcestershire sauce
10.5 can of condensed French onion soup
10.5 oz can of been consommé
1 can or bottle of Guinness beer (or your favorite Stout beer)
French baguette, or bread of your choosing
Provolone cheese, or your favorite cheese
Place the beef, followed by all ingredients above, through the beer, in the crockpot, place on high for 3-4 hours if using rump roast, high for 5 hours if using chuck roast.
Once done, remove beef from crockpot, reserving the juice in the crockpot, and place the beef on your bread and add cheese on top of meat.
Place the sandwiches in oven at 350 degrees, for 5-7 minutes, until cheese is melted. While the sandwich is in the oven, remove (au jus sauce) juice from the crockpot and place in bowls for dipping.
Remove sandwiches from oven and Get. To. Dipping.

French Dip Sandwich
One of the greatest sandwiches of all time. A good quality beef stock is required to really bring this sandwich to it's full potential.
French Baguette
Chuck Roast - 4-5 lbs
Beef stock - 2 quarts
Lipton's Onion Soup Mix - 2 packs
Onion - 3 sliced
Garlic - 5 cloves
Rosemary - 2 sprigs
Thyme - 3 sprigs
Provolone cheese
Portabella mushrooms - 3
Chives - for garnish
Salt & Pepper
Mayo - 1/2 cup
Horseradish - 4 tbsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Salt and pepper - to taste
Method:
Season the chuck with salt and pepper on all sides. Add oil to a pan, get smoking hot, then sear meat on all sides until brown. Add meat to pot, cover with stock, sliced onions, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and let simmer on low 4 hours.
Make the horseradish mayo. Combine mayo, grated horseradish, lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper, set aside.
In a nonstick pan, add some oil, then saute onions over medium heat until caramelized, then add mushrooms and continue to further caramelize, season with salt and pepper, set aside.
After 4 hours, remove meat, shred, and set aside. Strain the leftover juice and set aside for dipping.
Grab a french baguette, slice in half, cover with provolone cheese, and bake at 350 until melted, about 10 mins. Hit it with broiler if you want further browning. Slather on horseradish, the shredded meat, caramelized onions and mushrooms, chives, and enjoy.

Our French Dip Slow Cooker Recipe makes over six sandwiches filled with tender beef, melty cheese, soft buns - perfect dipped in the rich beefy au jus. Having sipped this au jus straight myself, I can't wait for you to try this mouthwatering slow cooker french dip recipe! With under ten ingredients, it's SO easy to make and one of those dump dinners that moms and families both love ????! PLUS I've got a couple of extra special ingredients that take a good french dip sandwich recipe over the top to the best french dip sandwich recipe you've ever tasted!
French Dip Slow Cooker Recipe Ingredients
1 2.5 lb Beef Roast (I'm using a Beef Loin Tri Tip Roast)
olive oil
salt & ground pepper
2 10.5 oz cans beef consomme
1 10.5 oz can French Onion soup
2 teaspoon Better Than Bullion Roasted Beef Base
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 12oz bottle of beer, I'm using a Samuel Adams Boston Lager
2 cloves garlic, minced
Best French Dip Sandwich Recipe Ingredients
French Dip slow cooker recipe above
8 soft buns
Provolone cheese, thinly sliced
Butter
French Dip Slow Cooker Recipe Directions
Trim any extra fat from the beef roast, then salt and pepper both sides. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat, and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Sear the beef roast on all sides.
Pour one can of beef consomme into the slow cooker. Add two teaspoons of Better Than Bullion, and stir to dissolve. Add one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Add the can of French Onion soup, the remaining can of Beef Consomme and the bottle of beer. Add the 2 minced cloves of garlic, then add the seared beef roast. Cover and cook in the slow cooker on LOW for about 6 hours.
Best French Dip Sandwich Recipe Directions
To assemble the sandwiches, remove the beef from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 - 15 minutes. While the beef is resting, butter the inside of the buns and toast on a griddle or under the broiler. Slice the beef against the grain, or alternatively shred the beef using forks. Layer the roast beef on the bottom bun and top a couple of slices of provolone cheese. Cover with the top bun and cut in half.
For the best french dip sandwich experience, serve each with a small (or big!) bowl of steamy au jus. Delicious ????.
Potluck Recipes - Crockpot French Dip
There's a couple of ways to serve this recipe at your next potluck! First, shred or slice the beef and take small bowls or cups to serve extra au jus if you like. Option A: Pre-assemble the sandwiches with the beef and cheese and wrap in foil. Serve the au jus from the heated crockpot or transfer the au jus to another insulated container. Option B: Guests can assemble their sandwiches from the crockpot with tongs and/or a ladle, serve buns and cheese alongside the slow cooker.
