How To make Chocolate Bourbon Or Rum Balls
6 oz Semisweet chocolate morsels
1/2 c Bourbon
3 tb Light corn syrup
2 1/2 c Vanilla wafer crumbs
1/2 c Sifted powdered sugar
1 c Pecans; finely chopped
Powdered sugar Melt chocolate morsels in top of double boiler or in microwave. When smoothly melted, remove from heat and stir in bourbon and corn syrup. Set aside. Combine crumbs, powdered sugar and pecans. Mix well. Stir into chocolate mixture; let stand 30 minutes. Shape into 1" balls. Roll in sugar. Store in an airtight container December '84 issue of Southern Living magazine. These are wonderful
now a holiday tradition at our house! You can substitute english walnuts for the pecans. You can also use rum instead of bourbon. I have tried several combinations, but find the original the best to my taste. Natalie (Formatted by Rosalind Beck, ggkf98a) ~:

INGREDIENTS
1 cup (140g) finely ground Vanilla Wafers (about 40 regular Nilla wafers) or Graham Cracker Crumbs
1 cup (110g) finely chopped Nuts , we prefer pecans
1 cup (120g) Powdered Sugar
1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground Ginger (or freshly grated Ginger)
fresh grated Nutmeg , to taste
1/4 cup (22g) Cocoa Powder
1/4 cup (60ml) Bourbon or Rum
2 Tablespoons (30ml) Agave Nectar or light Corn Syrup
Topping Ideas
ground Vanilla Wafers (Nilla Wafers)
finely chopped Pecans
Pecans and ground wafers together
Powdered Sugar
Cocoa Powder
crushed Candy Canes

This rum balls recipe is so easy you can mix up a batch in under an hour and make ahead before Christmas. They use condensed milk and crushed biscuits with cocoa powder, coconut and the rum of your choice.
This easy rum balls recipe is the same one I grew up with here in Australia that mum would make when we were kids. You can easily adapt them to be kid-friendly rum balls by leaving out the rum!
Plus they freeze perfectly so make them up to a month before Christmas so there is one less thing on your to-do list!
