INGREDIENTS: 4 cups cooked rice 1/2 pound ground beef 1/2 pound chopped chicken livers 1 small finely diced onion - about 3/4 cup 1/2 cup finely diced celery 1/2 cup finely diced green bell pepper 1/2 to 3/4 cup water or chicken broth 2-3 cloves minced garlic 1 tsp. Adobo seasoning 1/4 tsp. black pepper 1/4 tsp. onion powder 1/4 tsp. savory 1/4 tsp. thyme 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper - optional 1 tbsp. cajun seasoning 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley 3 tbsp. butter
In a skillet on medium heat add butter, onions, celery, bell peppers and salt. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes or until veggies are tender. Add minced garlic. Cook and stir for a minute.
Add ground beef and chopped chicken livers. Cook and stir until meat is no longer pink.
Add seasonings and cook and stir for one minute.
Add water and Worcestershire sauce. Cook and stir for one minute.
Add fresh chopped parsley and rice. Cook and stir for 3-4 minutes or until combined and rice heated through.
New Orleans native Charlie Andrews demonstrates how to make Blackened pork chops. Blackening is a cooking technique that is associated with Cajun cuisine and popularized by the great Louisiana Chef Paul Prudhomme.
