2 Pie crust
1 ts Cinnamon
3/4 c Sugar
6 Apples; peeled, sliced
1/2 c Brown sugar
1/4 c Honey
1/2 c Raisins
1/2 c Pecans; chopped
cinnamon-sugar mixture with sliced apples. Mix apples with a combination of brown sugar, honey and raisins. Pile into pastry-lined pie pan, dot with butter and cover with slitted top crust. Bake 425 for about 50 minutes. Source: Apple Recipes ~ Stephen Greene Press -----

Apple pie is considered an all American dessert. This pie will bring back cherished memories and create new ones for those who have never tasted a real homemade apple pie. The aroma while this pie is baking sets a wonderful atmosphere that is conducive to long lasting fellowship with loved ones.

Ingredients:
6 to 8 cups peeled and sliced apples of choice
1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
2 to 4 tablespoons of real butter
1/4 cup flour
1/2 to 1 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 teaspoon ginger
1/3 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 teaspoon allspice
2 pie crusts -
1 egg white
1 teaspoon sugar with a pinch of cinnamon
Crumb topping -
If you use this, double this recipe. Don't add the butter in the pie recipe, use 6 cups of apples, and you only need one pie crust.

This apple rose pie recipe is my variation of the classic French apple rose tart. It begins with a crisp, buttery, and sweet pie crust. Next comes a delicious layer of applesauce almond meal filling that is topped with artfully arranged paper-thin apple slices in the shape of a rose, making this Apple Rose Pie a true showstopper! Your loved ones and guests are guaranteed to be delighted!

INGREDIENTS:
Pie Crust:
- 200g (1 ⅗ cup) flour
- 50g (¼ cup) sugar
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 75g (~5 Tbsp) cold butter, cut in tiny cubes
- 50ml (~¼ cup) cold water, almost iced
Applesauce Filling:
- 450g (~1 ¾ cup) unsweetened applesauce (excess juice drained)
- 2 Tbsp powdered sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 3 Tbsp almond meal or almond flour (optional, but gives an extra flavor and texture)
Apple Layer:
- 6 medium size sweet crispy red apples (~850g)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 55g (~¼ cup) brown sugar (can use white sugar, but I prefer brown for a more “caramel” flavor)
- ½ tsp cinnamon
Additional Ingredients (for sealing the crust and for dusting):
- 2 Tbsp honey, syrup, or apricot jam
- 2 Tbsp rum, brandy, cognac or water
- 1 Tbsp powdered sugar
PAN SIZE: Preferably, a classical 9 inch (23 cm) in diameter pie plate (can also use a tart tin or a round pan with detachable sides)
