????INGREDIENTS FOR CREAM CHEESE DANISH:
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed (from one 1lb box)
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg yolk, room temperature
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon zest from 1 small lemon
1 1/2 cups berries (we used 12 strawberries, 12 blueberries, and 12 raspberries)
1/2 Tbsp powdered sugar, optional for dusting
????Egg Wash Ingredients:
1 egg
1 tbsp water
????Ingredients for Lemon Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp lemon zest, optional
1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (or add to achieve desired consistency)

How to make Danish Apple Bars
Flaky double crust with a delicious apple filling. Almost like a slab apple pie.
6-8 apples ( fuji, jonathan, honeycrisp, gala)
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp salt
1 C shortening
cut in shortening with a pastry blender until course crumbs. Add one egg yolk and enough milk to make 2/3 C. Add to dough mixture. Work until dough is smooth. Roll out half of dough and place on a cookie sheet. Peel, core and slice apples thinly. Add a couple handfuls of crushed cornflakes to the crust. Arrange sliced apples all over the bottom crust. Sprinkle with 1 C sugar and 1-2 tsp cinnamon on the apples. Roll out other half of crust and place on tope of apples. Seal crust.Beat the egg white until stiff, smear it on top the top crust. Bake 1 hour at 350°
Take 1 C powdered sugar, splash of vanilla and 1 Tbsp hot water and make a glaze, when the apple bars are hot out of the oven, drizzle with glaze.

Homemade Apple Danish (EP # 78)
Ingredients:
1 Roll of Puff Pastry - Use Store-Bought to make the process easier
4 oz or 1/2 cup Cream Cheese (Spreadable in tub is preferable)
1/2 cup Apple Filling
1/2 tsp Granulated Sugar
Egg Wash - 1 beaten Egg + 1 tsp water
Sugar Glaze:
1/3 cup Confectioners Sugar/Icing Sugar
1 tbsp Milk or Water
Instructions:
1. Make the Puff Pastry - if you are making your own, make it in advance to make the process faster and easier. The store-bought puff pastry is my go to as it is saves a lot of work, and this is also what I recommend for this recipe. The original size of the puff pastry that I used was 9 x 10, so I stretch it a little bit to make it square. Roll the puff pastry to a 10 x 10 size then cut into 12 strips (1-inch each). Work as fast as you can while the puff pastry is still cold. Once it soften, it will get sticky and quite challenging to at wits.
2. Make the Apple Filling - Get the Full recipe Homemade Cinnamon Apple Filling (
3. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling - Since this recipe uses spreadable cream cheese (in a tub), there's really nothing that you need to do here except to take it our in the refrigerator. Unless you want to make it sweeter, you can add sugar. If you do this, take it out of the fridge to soften it a bit, this makes the mixing easily.
4. Twist and Turn - Get 1 strip and pinch the end to another strip. Twist and turn the puff pastry then make a circular motion to create a circle out of the puff pastry strips. Press the middle of the circle to give space for the filling. Do this for the rest of the strips.
5. Add the Cream Cheese and Apple filling - you can add as much or less as you like. 2-3 tbsp is about right to the portion of the puff pastry.
6. Sugar Glaze - You can add sugar glaze or you can opt to skip it. Sugar glaze is just a combination of icing sugar and water or milk. You can adjust the consistency by adjusting the amount of liquid. Simply drizzle it on top, again as much or less as you like.

1/4 cup of walnuts (30g)
some raisins (about 15g)
